Welcome to Camp Shady Cove

I love coming to Shady Cove it reminds me of a quaint little resort town filled with rafters, ice cream shops and antiques. Mom's place is walking distance from almost everything except Wal-Mart.

We did make a day trip down to Cave Junction Oregon and explored the Oregon Caves National Monument. We took a guided tour of the cave that was 2 hours long and over 500 stair steps. The equivalent of 23 stories high. They have a six story lodge called the Chateau that was erected in the 1930's with a large 2 sided stone fireplace and log poles and beams. Some of the furniture is original such as the writing desk in the lobby and the grand piano. It would be a fun place to stay at.

The next day we drove to Butte Falls and spent the day looking at the waterfalls and exploring in the little town. We had a picnic in the town park across from City Hall and the High School "Home of the Loggers" they had a playground and horseshoe pit. The park was filled with large pine trees and old fashion lamppost. As we drove up there was a little girl on a bike pulling a wagon with an American flag attached to it. It was the quintessential small-town America experience.

Today we are relaxing and plan to walk to our many antique and thrift shops in Shady Cove. Who knows what treasures we will find?
