One of my favorite experiences on our vacation was when Leah spent the morning taking surfing lessons. I know it wasn’t really my experience but I thoroughly enjoyed taking photos from the shore and cheering her on. After doing some online research about the different surfing lessons you can take and where we settled on Hawaiian Fire. There were many places to choose from but ultimately I felt the most comfortable with this outfit because I knew that they were all Fireman and if an emergency were to happen they would know how to respond and have the proper equipment to do so. Because of Leah’s age she was required to have a private lesson and couldn't participate in the group lesson. This also gave me some reassurance that there would always be a pair of eyes on her. Leah’s instructor had a 7 year old child as well and had already taught him how to surf. It was a perfect match with the instructor and Leah.
I’m not sure if it is because she is a second child or just in her DNA but Leah loves adventure and seems to have no fear whatsoever. She was pumped up about her lesson that day and didn’t hesitate in anyway. After about 45 minutes of instruction on land they then spent about 1 hour and 15 minutes actually surfing in the water. Below is my photo essay of the morning. By the way it was worth every penny and one of Leah’s and my most memorable adventures, even though I just took the pictures.

By the end of the morning she was exhilarated, happy, and tired. |
